Year 6 Spring 1 Week Two
Week Two
Hello everyone,
Well done on a very successful first week. We have both been very proud of how you have adapted and successfully completed the tasks set to such a high standard.
Remember that we will be meeting every morning from Wednesday 6th January at 8.30am on Microsoft Teams and then at 1.30pm to catch up on anything we struggled with.
As always, do your best with it and email in a screen shot/typed up version of some of your work for us to look at to: year6@holytrinity.leeds.sch.uk
Thank you.
Mr March and Mr Clarke
Maths
The links to the sheets are now on Teams, remember that they are at the top under the file tab.
Use the link to access the videos: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/spring-week-2-number-decimals/
Once you have done that, make sure you log into Mathletics and do any of the tasks in the areas you are still unsure about.
English
Have a look at the spellings below and learn them. Get your parents to test you at some point this week on them:
This week we are going to be continuing our work on dragons. After doing some reading and research about these mythical beasts, we are going to creatively use our ideas and knowledge of report writing features to create a ‘dragon report’, in the style of a scientific animal report. The first couple of days will involve reading/highlighting key vocab and parts, while also completing some RIC questions. All of the information you retrieve and the notes you make will help with your writing later on in the week, and, remember, note taking is a great life skill.
Read through the slides below and work through the tasks either in your ‘home-learning’ books or a computer. The work we do this week will continue to build a bank of ideas that will later be used to help you write your own quest stories later in the term.

Art Lesson 1 (Monday afternoon)
You will need to only complete the first lesson that is on the slides. The date is at the top (11.1.21). Read through and do your best. Remember that this can be an ongoing project.
Science (Tuesday afternoon)
We are going to continue our work on ‘Living Things’ and find out about how they are classified.
PSHE (Wednesday afternoon)
Have a read through of the PowerPoint about the risks of drugs. Use the drug triangle and some of the suggestion cards to fill in what the risk triangle represents. Then do the task that asks for you to write about the risks:
RE (Thursday)
We will be looking at some of the Gospels this half term. Read through the slides and answer the questions as you go along. Then use the sheets below to finish the final task.
PE/Mindfulness (Friday)
Head into your garden and get a bit of exercise. If you do not want to be outside, have a look at some of the videos from the links below which contain a mix of yoga/mindfulness/active lifestyle suggestions:
- Leeds Rhino Challenges
- Cosmic Kids Yoga
- GoNoodle Dance Workouts
- Joe Wicks Daily Workouts
-
10 minute shake ups – Disney new 10 minute shake up games!
-
BBC Supermovers – move while you learn
Now get creative and produce your own exercise plan. Use some of the ideas that you find in the links above and also any ideas of your own. You can use this template or, even better, show you plan in a more artistic, creative way.
