Year 6 Spring 1 Week One
Week One
Hello everyone,
It is such a shame that the term has had to begin like this and we are stuck to online learning once again.
Remember that we will be meeting every morning from Wednesday 6th January at 8.30am on Microsoft Teams and then at 1.30pm to catch up on anything we struggled with.
6M you will know how to do this, 6C there will be a guide sent through and it should be self-explanatory.
As always, do your best with it and email in a screen shot/typed up version of some of your work for us to look at to: year6@holytrinity.leeds.sch.uk
Thank you.
Mr March and Mr Clarke
Maths
The links to the sheets are now on Teams, we will show you how to find them in the morning. Use the link to access the videos: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/week-1-number-decimals/
Once you have done that, make sure you log into Mathletics and do any of the tasks in the areas you are still unsure about.
English
Have a look at the spellings below and learn them. Get your parents to test you at some point this week on them:
This week we are going to be doing some creative writing about dragons.
Read through the slides below and work through the tasks either in your ‘home-learning’ books or a computer. The work we do this week will build a bank of ideas that will later be used to help you write your own quest stories later in the term.
English (Thursday)
Building on from your sentence work yesterday, you are now going to write an detailed description of a chosen dragon. Follow the slides and use your writing to bring your chosen dragon to life.
Choose one of these dragons to describe (if you have access to a printer, you can print these off)
English (Friday)
To start with today you are going to complete a reading with RIC task. Read the dragon description and answer the questions.
Now you are going to use ARMS and COGS to edit your dragon description from yesterday. Once you have done that, you will write you final version of the description in your neatest handwriting on a dragon picture. You will then add colour to finalise this week’s dragon work.
Science (Wednesday)
Quick science task to complete last term’s topic of Evolution and Inheritance .
To begin our new topic of Living things and their habitats, can you research the definitions of these key topic words:
RE (Thursday)
Have a read through the PowerPoint about our Christian Value of Trust. Then use the worksheet to answer the questions posed to you. If you cannot print this, write it down in your home learning book and present it neatly.
PE/Mindfulness (Friday)
Head into your garden and get a bit of exercise. If you do not want to be outside, have a look at some of the videos from the links below which contain a mix of yoga/mindfulness/active lifestyle suggestions:
- Leeds Rhino Challenges
- Cosmic Kids Yoga
- GoNoodle Dance Workouts
- Joe Wicks Daily Workouts
-
10 minute shake ups – Disney new 10 minute shake up games!
-
BBC Supermovers – move while you learn
Now get creative and produce your own exercise plan. Use some of the ideas that you find in the links above and also any ideas of your own. You can use this template or, even better, show you plan in a more artistic, creative way.
