Year 5 Residential Day Two

Our first night in our cosy beds was filled with excitement, making it a little tricky to drift off—but that didn’t stop us from jumping out of bed (well, most of us!) and heading to breakfast. There were some tired faces this morning (even the teachers looked ready for a nap!), but a delicious breakfast of sausages, bacon, beans, cereal, fruit, and toast gave us all the energy we needed for a big day ahead!

And what a day it was! We faced our fears, pushed our limits, and showed incredible perseverance. The zip wire had us soaring through the air, hearts racing but smiles beaming as we conquered our nerves. Raft building tested our teamwork—and let’s just say, not all rafts stayed afloat, but we never gave up! In true Bake Off style, there were a few soggy bottoms…

After a busy morning, we were more than ready for a delicious and warming lunch. On the menu: cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, ziggy fries, and vegetable soup. The burgers were a hit, the fries disappeared in record time, and the soup was just what we needed to refuel before heading back out for more adventures!

Orienteering took us on an adventure around Newby Wiske, where we put our problem-solving skills to the test, and Aeroball had us bouncing high, showing off our competitive streaks. Phew!

Dinner was a well-earned feast of lasagne, crispy chicken nuggets, potato wedges, and garlic bread—topped off with a delicious waffle for dessert. Safe to say, not a single bite was left!

But the fun wasn’t over yet… our silent disco pyjama party was unforgettable! Dancing to Sweet Caroline, busting out the Macarena, and even forming a Year 5 conga line around The Hive—what a way to end the night! Thankyou to our resident DJs Charlie and Aaron!

As we snuggle into bed after another action-packed day, it’s hard to believe tomorrow is our last morning here. This trip has been all about stepping outside our comfort zones, trying new things, and proving to ourselves that we can do anything!

Sleep tight,

Year 5 xx
