School Council Minutes:
On 24th March 2023 the school council attended the Leeds Youth Summit at Leeds Civic Hall. There was a presentation about democracy in Leeds, a tour of the Civic Hall and a Q&A session with some of Leeds’ Councillors.
We learnt that:
- There are 99 councillors in Leeds
- There are 33 wards
- There are 3 councillors per ward
- Meetings are chaired by the Lord Mayor
- The Lord Mayor is chosen annually
- The current Lord Mayor is the 128th Lord Mayor of Leeds
- You can join the Leeds Youth Council age 10+ and can get involved with the Leeds Children’s Mayor competition and Youth Parliament
We then learnt about the Youth Activity Fund for the Outer North West area (Horsforth, Adel, Guiseley, Otley, Yeadon) and how money is bid for; we did a group activity to see how it works.

The school councillors first task was to deliver the harvest donations to Holy Trinity Church, where they will be donated onwards to the Salvation Army. Thank you to all who contributed.
