PTA
Welcome to the Holy Trinity PTA Page!
Who are we and what do we do?
We are a small group of parents and teachers who meet approximately once a month to plan and organise fun events and activities which raise funds that are used within the school to benefit the children. We also discuss how to allocate the funds raised following requests received from the school. Our activities are going to have to look a little bit different for the next few months, but we are currently working on options that can work either virtually or within current government guidelines.
The PTA team would like to thank everyone in our school community for their patience and understanding when it has come to the lack of events being held. This was out of all the volunteers hands and was not something we took lightly. Now, lets all look forward to a more fun, charming and eventful time at our school.
We are a very informal group and membership changes every year, but we do have a committee that ensures everything runs smoothly – the current members of this are:
Co-Chairmen: Cheryl Mitchell, parent of Oliver (Y4)
Sara Bassindale, parent of Sasha (Y5)
Clare McDermott, parent of Marnie (Y1)
Secretary: Miriam Cunliffe, parent of Zachary (Y1)
Treasurer: Hannah Furlong , parent of Amelia (Y2)
How much money do we raise and what does it get spent on?
The 2019/20 school year was a year of two halves! Until Covid-19 restrictions were implemented in March, the PTA had successfully ran several events, raising over £4,000 to support the children’s learning at school.
The biggest of these events were the November disco, and the Christmas Fayre
Other fundraising activities included:
- The new parents’ coffee afternoon in September
- Pre-loved uniform sales at the Parents’ Evenings in October and March
- Reception tea towels
- Christmas cards and gifts decorated by the children
- Bags2School donations
- A tea & coffee stand at the Number Day parade in February
- ‘Inspirational People’ decorated hearts in March
The funds we raise are for extra items for the children and the more we raise the more we can provide for the school. We are always open to new fundraising suggestions and ideas from teachers and parents. Please see details below of how you can get involved.
Examples of what some of the funds have been spent on over the last year
- VR headsets
- 500 books
- Furnishings for the new reading shed
- Nativity costumes
- Theme resources for years 4 and 5
- Year 6 leaver’s books
If you have any suggestions on what future funds could be spent on please let the PTA know (see details below)
As Covid restrictions are coming to an end, the PTA is now hoping to be able to plan a small number of events for the remainder of the 2021/22 academic year. We will send out updates as we know more information through the school newsletter.
We are thankful to all parents who have supported our annual Christmas Card campaign over the last two years while we have been unable to host events due to Covid restrictions, and are really looking forward to the opportunity to host more events.
Upcoming Events
We are really excited to be able to announce that we are going to start holding some activities again as Covid-19 restrictions have been relaxed. We have two events planned initially, and the details are below:
Lucky Number Draw
Select your lucky number between 1 and 400 and be in with the chance of winning a ‘Jubilee treat hamper’ – only 50p per go for a fantastic hamper full of Jubilee themed treats. Tickets will be on sale in the playground at pickup from Friday 19th May. The draw will take place at 7pm Wednesday 25th May and will be recorded on the PTA’s Facebook page.
School Disco!
Get your dancing shoes on, we will be hosting a disco on 17th June. More details will be posted here, on our Facebook page, and in the school newsletter as soon as we have them.
What you can do to help
Get Involved! We are a small group and would welcome new members and/or suggestions so please consider coming along to a meeting (see the school calendar for date) or be a class rep or an event volunteer or send a suggestion for an event through to the link below.
Volunteer for Events. All of the PTA events need adult helpers to work – from helping in the planning of events to manning a stall for a fayre or disco for an hour. The more volunteers we get, the more events we can run and the more money we can make for the school.
Make suggestions. Even if you can’t make a meeting or volunteer to help at an event, you might have a really good idea for fundraising or where the money could be spent – please feel free to send this through either to the PTA email address (holytrinity.pta1@gmail.com), comment on the PTA Facebook page, or by using the suggestion box below.
