Year 5 testing air resistance with parachutes

Year 5 have been busy testing air resistance of different sized parachutes, with varied surface areas. We attached an object and dropped them from the same height to ensure we carried out a fair test. We then recorded how long the objects took to fall using a stopwatch. We found out that the bigger the surface area of the parachute, the slower it falls because it has the most air resistance resisting the pull of gravity.
